Oh how Horrible!!!
I hope they've learned a lesson here.... unfortunately the innocent had to paid with their lives in order for a lesson to be taught.![]()
Unless thing have changed, there is NO test for rabbies while the animal is alive. The only test that I'm aware of is testing the brain tissues & the animal has to be dead for that.. So unless you want all the animals to be killed on the spot, there is so little that can be done to test the animals.
I know shelters quarentine the animals, but 1 week isn't always enough for rabbies to show up.
Saddly so little can be done.. & if they would have given the dog a rabbies shot, it was already too late to help the dog.
Its just a very very very sad shit happeneds kind of situation.
RIP poor pups
OMG, that was rather stupid on their behalf.![]()

How exactly should they have "tested" the dog for rabies when it came in?! Since they can't do that without killing the dog, I'm not seeing the problem here...
Not giving him the rabies vacc was a dumb move on their part...however, if he was already infected it wouldn't have done any good, and there is no way to test a living animal for rabies. Killing every animal that comes through the doors to dig through their brain is obviously not a viable option. Having a better quarantine period for observation of adoptable dogs would be.
Thank you Wolf_Q!
