I think mostly everyone is getting tired of PETA. lol One time that kid who was in Home Alone (can't spell his name) tried to release a tank full of LOBSTERS!!! He wanted them to be "free". As if they really could survive on the streets of L.A.?!!? PETA is beginning to become a little crazy with stuff like that. No offense of course.

    Really

PETA was dressed up like animals and handing children syringes filled with blood? I would like to see one reliable independant news report about this. One link that is not put out by Rick Berman and his lobbyist front group. This sort of incident would have resulted in a genuine media frenzy not to metion FELONY charges of child endangerment.

Any organization that wants to eliminate pet ownership is worthless in my book.

They did confront my 13 year old daughter while she was taking some classes at a local college. They handed her graphic pictures of animals being tortured, luckily a college age girl rushed up and told her not to open it up, her friend was not as fortunate and she ended up throwing up.
don't breed or buy while shelter dogs die....

...that's just awful. In fact, it's sick of them to do that.

I really don't have a problem with graphic pictures being handed around. Sorry, but I believe you should know the facts of everything you take part in, including the partaking of meat and anything tested on animals. You can't pretend it doesn't happen. Its like my roommate turning the channel during things like katrina, turning the channel doesn't make it untrue and doesn't get those lives back.

    Graphic

I too think it is important that people are aware of the needless suffering that is sometimes part and parcel of daily living. I remember many years ago going to a Seafood restaurant on the wharf. Prior to this date I had always consumed lobster that had been prepared and looked "clinically" pleasing. It wasn't until the waiter asked me to choose the lobster I wanted from the tank and I observed the cook dumping one live into the pot that I became very aware of how my lobster dish came to be. I decided on a veggie platter instead.

I have no problem with meat eaters, however, they should be aware that many animals live a life of misery in crowded factory farms and are then shipped off to be slaughtered. Unlike organic farming where the animals are free range, and not subjected to crowded barns and sleeping and eating in their own filth while being injected full of growth hormones and antibiotics to offset the unhealthy living conditions.

Also I think it is important for people to know when they purchase those cheap fur trimmed garments in stores like Wal-Mart that many of these garments are shipped from china and made from dog and cat fur. Animals are often skinned alive for the fur. If people want to purchase this type of item, they have the right to do so. But they should be aware of the suffering that is taking place to provide these cheap garments for vanity.

And it is organizations like PETA who have brought this information to light. And because of all the exposure they are a target for Lobbyist groups looking to protect large Corporation interest, and support the oil Barron's, beef barons, and tobacco industry, drug and alcohol industry, animal research labs, and retailers who pay minimum wage and purchase from third world countries that support child labor and keep the poor from reaching above the minimum standard.

You are right. They should know. I just do not think it is right to hand out such graphic pictures. There's better ways to educate people than show them such things.

What? That makes my blood boil too! I mean it makes my blood boil when anybody supports BSL, but PETA? Aren't they supposed to be the ultimate animal lovers?

Did you even bother to read the post? I said they were handing out PENS shaped like syringes full of "blood" (red ink).

groups like peta are retarded, I read a t-shirt one time that said "save the world, kill YOURSELF! "

i think that peta is a borderline terrorist organization, how can good come from any organization that is against so many things?

they do support bsl , i read an article on a website that was trying to get pitbulls banned ( they succeeded) in our area, they quoted the president of peta as saying that "peta does support breed specific regulation, in fact they are against ownership of dogs in general" or something like that, lol.
needless to say i was baffled when i went to peta's site and learned what that stood for , then read all of the other odd things they are against.

    edit: found it-

Yes, and as a matter of fact I reread it when another poster pointed that out. So I had misread it. But thank you for pointing that out AGAIN.

Would it be easier for us to just have one big PETA thread? Then we could just all voice our opinions and be done with it.

I guess that PETA is like a lot of other organizations that have firmly held beliefs - be it Politics, Religion, or in this case Animal rights - theres always the fringe element that is out for the shock value. They believe that the shocking images and behaviours will bring people over to their side, when in fact for the average person, it turns them away from whatever the cause is.

So, for someone like my sister (who is a member of PETA and several other Animal Rights organizations, as well as Animal Rescue groups like 'Adopt-A-Dog-Save-A-Life, and doing Animal Sanctuary work) handing out flyers as a protest against fur is a far cry from the people handing out things aimed to traumatize children - but they are part of the same organization, just going about things in different ways.

I think one of the funniest calls I received recently was from a friend of mine, calling to say that he'd seen a picture of my sister in the Toronto Sun, topless in front of a furrier, holding up a sign covering herself saying 'I'd rather go topless than wear fur' -- it made us all snicker. (and yes, it is legal to go topless in Ontario)
