    For real??
    You "HAVE TO" vote??

    HOW do they enforce it?
Do the Voting Police drag you to the polls?
And then watch over your shoulder to be sure you mark the ballot?

    Phred,

When you move to Australia, you get stuff given to you to register to vote. You can of course NOT fill it in .......... but then they catch you when you get your license and say you are an Australian citizen.
I think they have this massive database that they cross reference!!

Not only do you have to vote for the government you want (so the WHOLE of Australia), but you have to vote for the State (Victoria), and you (I found this out the hard way), have to vote for your LOCAL council too.

I did not know that, - I was actually overseas. They tried to FINE me $150.00 for not voting. I said I posted my vote - and they lost it, so tough luck. Not paying ............ they let me off THIS ONCE they said ......

    Quite ridiculous I think!

I do like your thoughts of the "voting Police dargging me to the poll booth" ...... Let them TRY I say ....

I'm with Phred I can't believe they make you vote in Australia..

Angus they should use that pic to encourage people to vote....I can guarantee you'd get a lot more votes based on cutness alone...

Awww, Angus! I hope you'll be watching me from the Rainbow Bridge as I head into the park district office, where I go to vote. And I'll be thinking of this precious photo of you! I wish I could take it with me and show it to the people there. I'll try to print it. We always have the same election judges and they're all nice people who would get a big kick out of this sweet picture!

Sniff, sniff. This brought tears to my eyes. Was good to see that sweetheart again. They're never far from our heart and memories, are they?

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Hey, this dates from before I joined PT so I have never seen it before! WOW, Angus, great to see that boy. I just know all the loving thought are reahing him up at Rainbow Bridge.

Dad and I plan to vote between 9:30 and 10 this morning. Around here, that is senior citizen voting hour, ha ha haaa. We see lots of folks we normally only see at the senior center!
