I would not put either of those in an ad if I had to re-home. I would post theinformation about the animal and talk "price" over with whoever responded to the ad, once I found someone I liked.

When I got Pheobe, the person said for free, but I gave her 50$ anyways, so she could be sure she would be well looked after ( a lie, eh?

If I gave away Jen, she would be listed as for sale, just to rule out trashy people. If anyone came that I liked (and that she liked ) and really seemed to care about her. When they asked about the adoption fee, I'd say dont worry about it. If they *convienentally forgot to ask about the adoption fee, I'd snatch the leash back outta their hand.

I'd definetly take their phone number and make weekly visits.

But yea, this threads for curiosity, Jen isn't going anywhere! (except for a walk

)

I've adopted out many rescued animals with my past job, mostly cats and birds. We put up the expenses to get the pet checked at the vet, shots, and neutered, not to mention food and anything else they may need. We still never asked for any money from the person adopting the pet. We rescued the pet so he could have a better life and we wanted the new owner to use that money to buy the things they need for their new pet. Often people would give a donation to help with the other rescues though. We ALWAYS interviewed and screened each person/family before we adopted a pet to them.

One of the best things was that I worked in a pet boarding facility. We knew our customers very well and we knew how they cared for their pets. We never advertised any of the pet that were up for adoption, it was strictly by word of mouth, we'd tell the customers that we felt were exceptional pet parents. They were often interested in one of the pets or had a friend that were interested in one of them. We always found incredible homes for them. Also the pets would then return to us when their family went on vacation and they boarded with us. It was always so great to see them happy with a family.
