Bassett sheds a LOT because I think she was never taught or given the chance to learn how to groom herself properly. She isn't a clean cat - I have to bath her around once a month (sometimes less) because she can get a stinky bum.
LOL....Ritzy is a fastidious groomer, but is , um, well, a little "chubby" and cannot always reach those special places. Our brushing sessions include the occasional (and thankfully rare) "dingle extraction" --- she used to be very unwilling to let me near that area, but now that she understands what the result is, she is almost TOO willing to let me do it!
