I am of mixed emotions, as I don't know how she is as a parent - as in, does she care for her children, or do a series of nannies do most of the day-to-day work, and how much of it is a publicity stunt. Still, I suppose it gets him to a better place than he was in ...

I am all in favor of adoption, heaven knows, every child deserves to be loved. I just don't have a lot of respect for Madonna.

    Me either.

She adopts the poor kid, then leaves the country, only to send for the kid later on.

What parent, who really loves children would want to adopt them, leave them and have them flown out to whereever they are later?

Shoot, I'd adopt 12 kids, if I had the money to have someone else raise them!

Maybe there was some country's rule that the adoption had to be final before the child could leave? I do know some people that have adopted a child, only to have to return on a later date to retrieve the child.

Really. Someone would adopt a child for publicity? I read one time that Madonna is one of the greatest female business women there are/were. Why would she need a child to improve her image? Or, for publicity? I don't see how that would increase her sal-ability or marketability.

The same way I feel about anyone else adopting a child. They're doing a good thing and it's not my job to assess their parenting skills.

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

    Ai dios de mi alma!!!

I believe that the rules for that country make an adoptive parent wait one year before the child is allowed to leave the country..

That is to prevent people from trading in children (Selling/slavery).

She also gave some money for the area- for a hospital or school..

(She flat out bought the kid.....what poor African township would welcome a bunch of money for a child.....

Madonna is a cash cow, emphasis on the the COW.

    -------------------------------------

Madonna is trying to rehabilitate her image......HMMMMM, I wonder if the
new tour and the new controversy about the cross she has on stage has anything to do about it?

    --------------------------------------

Anytime I hear about any star adopting a poor kid from another country I cringe.

Why not do it without the fanfare and hang around for the kid...

"Oh, send a jet for my new son!"

I don't have a lot of respect for her either, but, from what I have read, she is a devoted parent. I do question what her children think of her image and what she has done in the past.
