Awww...Poor Johanna. This happened to me the day my in-laws were returning home. My brother was pulling their suitcases to the car. I was standing by the side of the door, with people all around me, and couldn't move...so, without noticing I was there, my brother accidently pulled the suitcase over my baby toe. The nail ripped off, and it was bleeding badly. After an hour, it was all blue, and stayed that way for a few days. It hurt terribly, but was not so bad for one reason, because my hubby pampered me a lot, and I didn't have to walk around and do anything until it got better.
He he he

Everything is pointing in the right direction (well, on my FEET anyhow, lol). I can't wait to get home and get these shoes off, thats for sure.
I have broken my little toes....and yes....it will proably feel better with some pressure on it...Scotch tape excluded....but there is nothing that can be done for it....
Oh, Lillycat! I **told** you there wasn't any reason to go to the MD!![]()
Me AND my PT medical friends concur with the original dx and treatment.![]()
I would get right to the Doc's asap just in case. You don't want to find out that you waited too long and now have pain forever when it could of been avoided.I am probably wrong but I'd go![]()

What would you do if it was Jonah? You would call! Most likely they can't do anything...but still...hey glacier...that sounded like it was really gross!

It was gross!! I kicked the bed in the dark. The noise my foot made was disgusting! I've never screamed like that in my life. At the time I lived alone in a condo. My neighbor told me later that he considered calling the cops. He was quite sure that I was being attacked until he saw me hopping out to get in my boyfriend's truck!Originally Posted by caseysmom
Ouch!!A kind of bandage to keep it in position is good idea, and also keep it elevated. Hope the pain goes away soon!

Maybe get Jonah to "kiss it all better"????
Sounds painful, and I hope you feel better soon!!

Tis true the usual "fix" for a busted toe is to strap / tie / tape it to it's un-busted neighbor ...
Although I kinda *doubt* "Scotch" Tape from the Office is the suggested flavour!
"Scotch" Tape won't *breathe* and will prolly turn the once good toe's skin into a rainbow of ugly colors.
Ask the Pill Pusher at Wally's Mart what to use for tape.
As for the Doctor or Not question ...
Find an "Outpatient Clinic" that your insurance will deal with ...
might be the cheapest way out yet assure youself that a JOINT isn't involved.
Toes "break" in strange ways ... you want to be sure this is a "simple" break
and not one that will cause pain in the future.
Dunno if one of the X-ray "specialty shops" will shoot a pix of the foot / toe
without an MD Doc's referral.
You might call a couple of the X-ray shops and ask if they'll shoot the pix AND
explain what the film shows - i.e. "read" the X-ray for you.
Do you have a CANE yet?

I'm sorry...ouch! I broke my little toe maybe 7 years ago by dropping a pan of lasagna on it!(And I was all done, too, ready to put it in the oven!) The only thing the doctor did was do an x-ray, asked me if it hurt when she touched it and moved it (yes, it did) and then told me to tape it to my other toe. It healed in 4 or 5 weeks.
