When I was a kid back in the forties and fifties we had dogs. My mom loved dogs and always gave them German names like: Jaegar, Herrdach, Nitz Nutz, and three black ones she called, "Blackie". I remember the first "Blackie" the most. I also had a lovely tame white rabbit for a year...called her Susie. And my turtle which I named Richard.
We never had cats. But when my husband and I got married 45 years ago we got a dog named Schatzie and a kitten named Blitz Krieg. I had my mom's pension for German names.
Eventually we had only cats and as the years went on we became real "cat lovers" and I might even say..."cat whisperers."
So there have been several. The one who stayed with us the longest was Spot (a girl kitty with a big black spot on her pretty white coat.) who lived 19 years. Our, Trey, who we lost last week was almost 17. And we still have two: LB (5 yr. old boy) and Janni (5 year old girl)...both former strays not related to each other and good buddies. I hope and pray they are with us a long time.
And last but not least we have had some parakeets who never seemed to live long. We did own (he really owned us) a cockateil named Vivian for years. Originally we thought Vivian was a girl but then discovered he was a boy...but Vivian in UK is a name often given to males. I was then okay with that.
