My dog has disc disease and because of its location, surgery would be somewhat risky, and I have found that accupuncture has been extremely helpful for him--he seems much less painful and has more energy. He got weekly treatments for about 6 weeks, and now we go every 2-3 weeks. He is very comfortable during the treatment. After some treatments he is a bit lethargic for a day, but then is better.

I'm not sure if this would help for what your dog has, but in general, it seems to be beneficial in terms of pain and fuctionality.
