Aw Slick, I'm sorry you are having it rough. I had a dream about you lastnight. I sure miss you.

I've been BOO'd!
I had a nice talk with Slick today - sure was good to hear your voice, girl!
The pain IS bad, but she sounds good otherwise...I hope the doc she is seeing can help on Tuesday, as she will have an x-ray beforehand.
I don't want her to OWWWW anymore!![]()
This is the time to REALLY keep up support, I think...wonder if we should start a new thread?
HUGS (gentle) to Slick!
I told her we gotta have a PT get-together when she is healed and has no more pain!

This on works just FINE, everyone knows where to look for it,
and it's bookmarked and sends Email Alerts to hundreds of Pet Talkers.
Anyway, we gonna see how *BIG* we can get this thread!

Today has been a funny day. It all started with a phone call at 9am (waking me up) from neighbour Betty. So much for the morning walk. Layed back down and then the phone rang a 1/2 hour later from another friend Betty who is an RN and she is coming by tomorrow to check on things. Layed back down and didn't wake up until after 12 Noon. Then Catty called and we had a nice chat. Stayed up for about another hour or two and spoke to Laurie then went back to bed and just woke up now...6:40pm. All afternoon Max was sleeping on the pillow next to me and now he wants his dinner. Seems he's worked hard today looking after Meowmie.
Why am I in such pain and why couldn't I get out of bed today??? Last night I took a sleeping pill and a few hours later I was still awake so took another one. Maybe it's the sleeping pill leftovers that I'm feeling today. Can't answer that but now that I'm up there's lots to do.
I have not had anything to eat yet today so need to get something nutritious into my tummy before taking any more meds. Sure, I'm down 7 lbs but starving is not the way to do it.A friend came over yesterday and brought me some wonderful curried chicken so I'll bake that for dinner tonight along with a salad and a bit of rice. MMMM, anyone want to join me???

Oh yes, I don't have any pictures of Dr. Joel because I didn't have my digicam with me. Let's just say he was the "whole package". He was about 5' 8", dark skin, huge biceps with a tattoo of an angel on one of them, beautiful smile, bald head, nice round....ahem....you know and his scrubs were tight-fitting. Not only that, but I found out that he was training to be a nurse, not a doctor. He had the most wonderful bedside manner and on the day my chest tube was removed, he was right there with me, holding my hand and stroking my head. It was wonderful....really.![]()
OK, I'm off to pray for other people now.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Some days are like that - sounds like a little good food, some more Max cuddles and a lot of relaxation could be a good rX for today.
I am so happy to hear that things are progressing, despite the pain. Hopefully that will ease soon and you'll be back in the saddle - giddy up!!
For now, enjoy the mellow and take extra good care of yourself![]()

I've emailed this to Connie but want you all to see this. It's a tree that is in a small park across the street from me. I call it a trumpet tree but what do you all think??? The flowers have a wonderful scent.

what a beautiful tree! Those look like flowers that Georgia O'Keefe painted, but I can't recall the name of them. So glad you are up and around, Slick! Fresh air, beautiful flowers & sunshine will do wonders for you. I'll join in sending you that PT group hug! And of course i'm patiently checking this thread for Dr. Joel updates! oh, the suspense...![]()
I'm pretty sure that is a Datura, Slick, or what we call an Angel Trumpet, but I'm going to ask my plant experts and find out. I cannot believe the size of that bloom!!!!! Wow! I have never seen an Angel Trumpet with that sized bloom.
I'll let you know! Glad you're getting out and about!
Logan
Slick, glad you're getting some rest. You need that to get better. Dr. Joel sounds absolutely delcious! How I wish you had your camera with you. I would love to have some of that curried chicken. Makes me want to go to an Indian restaurant. That tree is called an Angel Trumpet. It's a shame idiots were boiling the flowers to make a funky tea. I don't think they're allowed in Florida any more but not sure.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
I miss you
I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.
Fur as dark as the night.
Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Listen folks, I just got of the phone with Naomi. I wanted to thank her for bringing me Dr. Pete and she reminded me what day she was there....![]()
![]()
She informed me that there is a chunk of change left over from the "sick fund" that some of you have donated to. I would like this to go to a charity but need to do a bit of research first. Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue comes to mind but there are other rescues that I'm considering. I will let Naomi know in the next couple of days.
So now you all have me reduced to tears...![]()
I just can't believe that you would do this for me. People whom I have never met and people whom I've never spoken to on the phone....donating in my honour. I feel so undeserving and I want you to know that I love you all dearly.
Now, about that tree. Funky tea????? Well, that certainly sounds good to me. Who needs drugs when I can boil up some blossoms???![]()

I'm off to wipe away my tears and make some phone calls. You all rock!!!!!!

We called those Mission Bells. We had a tree in my backyard when I was a child. The scent brings back SO many memories.Originally Posted by slick
Don't be eating the Datura blossoms, Slick, they are hallucinogenic and frankly, you are taking enough already.
