No they are not dangerous. They remain illegal in CA because of misinformation. Those that wish to keep ferrets illegal say that if people let them go, or they escaped that they world form vicious packs and damage native species and agriculture. What they don't understand is that ferrets have been domesticated for hundreds of years and they would not survive very long at all if out in the wild...very few would be able to feed themselves etc.. Actually, many people have ferrets in CA illegally. On these websites are vets in CA that will treat ferrets. Those that own ferrets run the risk that if they are ever reported, the ferret can be seized and either PTS or sent to a shelter in a neighboring state. HTH.
