I have a 100% inside cat, but a slightly different problem. My best friend takes her cat outside on the balcony - the cat wears a leash when she goes outside. My nephew's cat is allowed to go out on the screen porch without his leash, but "outside outside" he must wear it. My sister used to have two cats and they would crowd the door trying to get outside. I think I have the only kitty on earth who does not like to go outside! For example: I go out on the balcony and close the screen door behind me. When she hears the screen door close, she will come and sit with her nose 1 cm away, smelling the fresh air, keeping an eye on the clouds and leaves and whatever else is happening outside. She will sit just inside the screen door as long as I'm out on the balcony. If I open the door and try to coax her out with toys or treats, she hides under the sofa. I've carried her outdoors a couple of times, set her on a beach towel for a thorough combing during a major shedding and then carry her back inside- she will accept that. I know she lived under a porch early in her life, and the family that owned the house got her out from under there and into a no-kill shelter, which is how I got her. She will spend hours inside the open screen door on a nice day, just watching the trees and clouds and smelling the air. Should I buy a pet stroller? Should I just accept that she'll always be an indoor cat? Thank you from Cassie's Purr-sonal Servant in Illinois
