    Slick,

Working in a hospital is O.K.

Until the paperwork has a face attached to it.

    Be well, my friend.

Gini, thanks for the continuing updates. I'd be lost without them.

I’m so glad to hear Slick has been moved to a private room - although it doesn’t sound all that private. However, it must have been wonderful to have a bath, and a yummy meal. Does this mean she’s got the chest tube out?

I hope she’ll be able to sleep well and the pain will go away. Now, we just need to hear some good test results.

I can’t believe that anyone would steal from a hospital - what a sad world! Ok, here we do need to keep valuables in a closed cupboard, but it’s in the room at least.

Sending hugs and wishes for a speedy recovery.

    Thanks for the update, Gini!

I am so happy to hear the good news about Slick! Thank you Gini for updating us!!
One question though: I have no idea what "Dr.Pete" is.... Is it a doll or a bear? Or what is it? Is it possible to have a pic of "it"?

Dr. Pete Feline is a fully examined doctor who can look after Slick when she is home and can be seen on page 42 of this thread.

Hooray for a private room & better meds for the pain! Hospitals just aren't fun, no matter how well intentioned their efforts are. I hope Slick can return home soon, where she can be in comfortable surroundings. Still praying for her...

So glad she's got a "private" room now. Rest should come much easier, especially if she gets her pain meds as required. Thank you for keeping us updated on her recovery!!

Slick, rest, heal and get healthy. We're pulling for you!!

Gini I'm glad to hear the update. Sounds like the pain is really terrible and I hope more med mean more comfort for Slick.
When you get the chance to talk to her again please give her all my love.

I'm so glad she's been moved to a "private" room, although privacy in a hospital is an oxymoron. I'm so sorry about the pain, but given the surgery she had, I guess it's to be expected. At least they're feeding her somewhat decent food and gave her a room (and a bathroom!) with a view. Prayers continue, of course!

    Thanks for the updates gini!

Prayers continue here for Slick's speedy recovery!

One thing about Dr. Pete is he is magic and once they met, he can now send his special comfort and healing to Slick no matter where she is. Love is like that you know; it knows no bounderies.

Morning update, I'm at work so can't make it as detailed and long as previous from here but will say we both smiled and smiled and she sounded delightful. Of course the meds she had just taken 20 minutes earlier were just starting to "kick in" Another bad night but after a one-on-one with her own Dr they are going to try a different pain drug. It sounds like gavapan or gavatrin or something like that. She couldn't remember. She was restless about 5 a.m. and reach for a box of goodies Naomi has brought filled with cards and letters and read over each one again - it was like opening it the first time because she doesn't remember the first time She did say that it didn't seem fair, even though she is now benefiting from it, that the more you pay for a room the better the food. After a tired, cold little fish flavored stick thing with chopped green stuff called veggies for one of the first meals YUK!!! A sandwich on a croisant (sp?) was heaven. Still the tube draining fluids but as long as the pain stops she doesn't really care how long it takes before the tube is removed. I gave her Cheryls (E The Spoiled) suggestion about speaking with the nursing supervisor about the meds, not the regular nurses and Dr. She's going to do it. More later but shouldn't really be doing this at work. Don't tell anyone

Some years ago my Mum was involved in a bad road accident and was in hospital for a long time. Poor soul practically had to be re-assembled and was drugged up to the eyeballs for weeks. My husband said it was great visiting her, because you could tell her all the same stuff all time time - she didn't remember hearing it before.

I'm sorry to hear that the pain and the food have both been so bad, but it sounds as if the worst is behind her. I hope she goes from strength to strength now.
