Goodmorning Slick! Hope you're feeling better today! A good nights sleep and a decent meal is a MUST when you're feeling lousy and in a hospital. I hope one of these days you'll feel like me, when I once woke up from anethesia - my first words were: I'm hungry, where's the lunch?

Sending lots of positive thoughts for good test results, general well being and a speedy recovery.

    ((((hugs))))

I talked to Slick's Mom this morning - thinking that she might like to be cheered up as she would be worrying about Slick!

Was I ever wrong!! She promptly started telling me how well everything is going and how "I" shouldn't worry.

She isn't going to visit Slick today because she said that Slick REALLY needs to sleep and get some rest. She mentioned the food and the poor quality too. I think her sis-in-law might be taking her some better food.

The only thing she mentioned is that Slick's feet are swelling. But Slick told me that she took two long walks yesterday - hopefully that exercise will help.

Phred - she moved to a semi-private room yesterday sometime. I will tell her about the "nurses stash" when I talk to her next.

I'm glad Slick's at least in a semi-private room, although the situation sounds less than ideal. Glad all her plumbing is working and sorry the food is so bad. Prayers and good thoughts still flowing her way. How's Dr. Pete?

I think that Dr. Pete had to be taken back home because when Naomi delivered it, Slick was still in the intensive step down ward - that was crowded - and a beehive of activity. Slick was afraid he wouldn't be "safe" there. I could be wrong here - but I think that is what happened.

These updates are helping so much, Gini. Thank you for being so diligent about letting us know the latest (even if it is TMI at times ).

Send our love next time you talk with her and tell her I'm going to be anxious to hear that she has gotten into her own room and that the tube has come out. Then she really can begin to heal.

Here is my evening update. Slick has now been moved to a private room as of this afternoon.

She had a horrible night - had to ring her emergency bell twice. She has had a talk with the nurses that now will attend her in her private room.
She is scheduled to have pain meds more frequently now.

She did have something wonderful today - a bath and her hair washed.
She said the most wonderful woman came in to give her the bath and wash her hair. Slick said she felt so much better to be finally clean again.

I asked her about Dr. Pete and she isn't sure - but it is possible that her Mother took Dr. Pete home with her. Slick said you just DON'T leave anything of value in your room. Her wallet and keys are locked in a safe at the main administration desk. Anything of value would be stolen.

I think this tells us the mental condition Slick was in on Sunday - lots of drugs and she just doesn't remember a lot of things. I asked her if she had seen the T-Shirt for Dr. Pete - and she vaguely remembered. So I described it to her - and now she is anxious to see it.

She does remember a large envelope that Naomi brought with a lot of cards inside. Slick asked me to specifically THANK EVERYONE who sent those cards and to tell you how much they mean to her. She wants to go back and look at each one again and again. She also wants to thank Naomi, because she knows she lives at least an hour away - so it was a true heroic
effort on Naomi's part to get to her in the hospital.

The Dr. came to see her right when she was having a bath - so he said he would come back later. It might possibly be this evening as he makes his evening rounds.

The final thing she wanted me to share with you is that she is on the twelfth floor - and her room AND the bathroom have a view to die for. You can "sit" in the bathroom and just gaze out the window forever.

And finally - she did have a good meal. She thinks that better meals go with the private rooms - she had an excellent dinner of ham, corn and scalloped potatoes that she said was just delicious.

That's it for this evening folks - continue to pray for her - this pain sounds pretty horrific.
