I bought a beautiful book on Venetian architecture filled with colour plates that are just breathtaking. (Books are always my favourite memory of places we visit )

Oh yes, me too. They always have better pictures than you can get yourself with hundreds of tourists in the way! Although you seem to have managed pretty well on that front.
