State Dogs.. not much there. I'd say golden retriever for california.

I don't know for new york yet. (oh yeah, maybe yorkies?)

Funny enough no Boston Terriers in my neighborhood, closest we've got is a Buggle - pug/beagle mix. But I have seen them in Boston! and Cambridge, too ...

Hey, I will volunteer the white-tailed deer for Minnesota!!! You drive out in the country and you are bound to see at least 2-3 deer at a time! Besides, it's not like there are a lot of those listed as the state mammal! hahaha
