He probably won't ever become diabetic.

Becoming diabetic from eating too much candy is a misconception. You can become type 2 diabetic from eating an unhealthy diet and being overweight and inactive. You cannot cause yourself to become type 1 diabetic. Diet has nothing to do with that. If you already have type 2, you can progress to type 1 if you don't take care of the condition.
