Rear only here. I have a novelty plate on the front. I've learned to take it off when I cross the border. It seriously confuses the US Customs guards! (It's a Calgary Stampeders plate--a white running horse, but they think it's a real plate every time and always ask why I have two different plates on my truck!)

Both!!! We get the official one by mail: for the rear side of the car. We then have to have another one made for the front side

There are some kind of hologram on licence plates to show they are authentic. It reflects w/ light, apparently. (Helps distiguish from fraudulent plates.)
