My goodness! You have just helped me to re-name Thumper (shelter name because they couldn't call him Humper). I started thinking about artist names and, since Thumper does have unusually short legs, I think I will call him Lautrec - it's easier to say than Tolouse. Thank you, I've been trying to think of a good one for months.

Sorry, very sorry, about getting off topic.

Tracy - do you keep any meds at your rescue? Or you don't want to start medication until the sneezing and coughing kittens have seen a vet? Have you been able to isolate those cats? (You may have said and I apologise if I don't remember.) Is the woman who is coming to your rescue interested in general or did she hear about the kittens from Illinois?

Tracy - can you isolate the two and even run a vaporizer with Vicks in it? Might help them feel a bit better anyway.

    Poor babies!

    Hug them for me!

I do not have them isolated...not enough space. They are, however, in one cage together with no other cats. I do not have an medication here, I never had a cat that was coughing like this before. It is kind of worring me a bit. I do not have a vaporizor...where would I get one? I am worried that all the kittens are going to be sick, including my other rescues and my own four pet cats. The lady that came by today was just looking in general. She saw my website and wanted two female cats. She took my two one year old gals. They have been together for a while and are familar with each other.

I lost a baby today. One of my five week old rescues passed away. She was fine yesterday, woke up today and she was way past gone. Very sad. It has been a rough day. Thanks for listening to my complaints.

We've thrown you into a bad situation. Can the sick cats be put in their cage into your bathroom? Once you have one cat with cat flu in a kennel, the chances are high that most will get it. They have been through a lot of stress and are still in a stressful situation which makes them more vulnerable. And the shelter you got the recent rescues from didn't do anything to check or treat any illnesses. You don't have any choice, at least I don't think so, but to take those sick cats to the vet tomorrow even though it will use up the funds you are saving for their spay/neuter and testing.

You can get a humidifier from any drug store for about $30 w/tax - another cost for you, I'm sorry. But that will work best if the cats are in a small room. It might be cheaper, I've done it myself, to have them in your bathroom and run the shower. Do you have a thermometer? Have you taken their temps? Do you know any other rescues nearby that will give you Amoxi or similar?

How very sad that you lost one of your kitten rescues. It must have been distressing to find her. Kittens are both very strong and very vulnerable, just like human babies. This forum is here to listen to you when you want to talk about all the problems you are facing, and both the successes and losses.

Well, I have a lot to do tomorrow...LOL!! I am not angry about the kittens or them being sick, just a bit frustrated. I am just worried that I am going to have problems affording it. I can not take money from my bills and family...I have to use other methods. I will figure it out. I always have. There are no rescues near by except animal welfare and that is our vet. Rescues are far and few everywhere!! I sent my fiance to pick up a vaporizor and vicks...we will start there. I will call the vet in the morning.

I feel so bad about the baby too. The momma is so worried about getting out of her cage and she has been neglecting them. I picked up some kitten formula and I am going to see if I can save the other four. Thank you for listening. The forum is great.

Ohhh...no, Tracy, I am so sorry about the wee baby!

Although with the Dozen, you saved many more than were supposed to be...this just is plain bad! I am SO sorry...HUGS!

A vaporizer - for humans, you can get at Wal-Mart for cheap. Fill with water, a bit of Vicks or tea tree oil(if your vet says ok), and away you go!

Tea tree oil is supposed to be antiseptic or something....the Vicks, etc, has eucalyptus.

Thank you. I am calling my vet first thing in the morning. They were closed today. I just hope all of the felines do not get sick.

Tracy, I am so sorry about the baby. That has to break your heart. I am sorry the other two are sick too. I hope they get better soon and don't infect the others. It is really hard when you have sick ones and then they pass it to the others and you have a bunch of sick ones. I think I like the name Picasso too! LOL I wish I had some funds to send you but just spent over $300.00 at the vet myself. Now i am broke until payday.

Thank you Melissa. Don't feel bad about not being able to help...we all do only what we can. I expect nothing more. I am already broke, even when I get my check LOL!! We will work it out...we always have. Something is sure to give for these babies. Thank you for keeping up with all of this.

Oh Tracy, I am so sorry to hear about the little one that you lost.
    Rest in Peace little one.

I pray that none of the other cats get sick. Is it at all possible to keep your own 4 cats confined in your bedroom for now. One thing that I found was good was Lysol disenfected spray. It is suppose to kill 99.9% of germs, including viruses and many others. I had used this when 2 of my rescues were sick with URI's. Mind you I was able to keep them isolated in my bedroom away from my cats.

I will definitely be saying a special prayer for you tonight.

    Thank you for your prayers.

The Lil' Dirty Dozen are kept in a room in kennels, so I am trying to keep my four away from the back room. But if I keep the door closed all the time, the room will smell really bad. I don't want that. I am setting up the vaporizor, let's see if that works for now. Vet will be call in the a.m.
