I went and got some papers at Petsmart about the puppy kindergarten. They have to be 10 weeks old to enroll them, and he's not quite there yet. My parents think I am nuts. There is some guy in my city who does dog training for $50. But I don't know anything about his methods, and well, it's for dogs 4 months +, its not really set for puppies....Doesn't Petco offer classes too?
I don't know about Petco but I took Smokey to the Puppy headstart class at PetsMart and he loved it! There were just 4 pups in the class (Smokey- a APBT, Baxter- A wolfhound mix of some kind, Nikki - a lil' poodle, and Phil - a JRT). Smokey and Baxter were best of friends! They just played and played and played and ... I think it was great for Smokey not only to play with Baxter, who was big and a good match for Smokey, but to get used to being around dogs who didn't want to play with him because they were small or shy or whatever.

I am planning on taking him back for another class probably in September (he'll be 7 months old then).

I definitely think the $99 for an 8 week class at PetsMart was way worth it. They give you coupons for treats, too. Once I think I ended up with 2 bags of treats for like $0.96. WOOHOO! And the trainer we had, Lydia - she was great and put up with Smokey's super puppy-like behaviour. He was the youngest in the class..... Anyway, Lydia used positive reenforcement (treats) to teach. She taught - Sit, Down, Off, Stay, Leave it, Give it, Wait, Settle, loose leash walking, Heel... and there might have been a few more.

Whatever you do - good luck!
