I can't believe those idiots at the ACO's and Wildlife offices were "too busy" to go and pick up a carcass. It could very well hold answers to some mysteries that have gone unexplained for years. This is a real learning experience they're passing up.

    Think about it!!

Nope, still don't see it.Have you ever seen a dead animal after it's body has
be laying out in the sun for a week? The body becomes bloated & the features become distorted as it decays. Not a pretty sight.

I was curious about this and looked at the pictures too and it just looks like a run of the mill mixed-breed dog to me. I've worked in a shelter and have seem some pretty strange mixes in my day, so this didn't seem odd to me at all. There are a lot of snub-nosed breeds of dogs, and mixed with something like a chow or some other equally thick-furred breed of dog could very well make a mix like this. Poor thing.

If it was such a mystery, these people should have been a little more quick on the up-take and made an effort to collect the body and examine it.

    RIP beastie.

    Remember good ol' Sam?

This face is pretty frightening, and he may not have looked like a typical dog, but he was...same thing with beastie.

At the bottom of the article, it says it was eventually picked up and DNA tested to be a wolf/dog hybrid.

I don't think it looks evil and was a little shocked to read that so many were scared of him. I agree with whomever said the story had a yetti-esque quality. Poor guy, was probably feral and trying to survive the best he knew how.

It's a hoax, in my opinion.
It doesn't look evil. It looks like a doctored photo of a puppy, a man and a monkey, (or something.)
"A horrible stench" was mentioned in the article.
Yes, just like the Yeti. Another animal that has never been found.
"Wildlife Officials and Amimal control officers wouldn't go near it." Bull. Don't tell me no one would at least take a DNA sample, (a q-tip of saliva), from a dead animal to perhaps go down in history as the discoverer of an unknown genus!
Fox New Source so it's got to be true!!!
Well it's a fun story, but that's all it is.

It has been on wire services, Fox picked the story up from the wire. I'm not surprised ACO wouldn't do anything, they aren't exactly in a major population center. Looking at the results of their last town election, there were 221 voters. Not exactly a metropolis. The ACO is probably more concerned with their primary job, not coming otu to pick up an odd carcass. Wildlife officers in that neck of the woods normally have their hands full dealing with poachers (DO NOT run from a Maine game warden, you'll probably get shot).

sometimes the internet is like that National Enquirer Newspaper!!!!

Who knows, maybe it is "The Goat Killer" from the movie, American Grafitti.

Just my thoughts at the moment....My husband is too busy for a comment!!!

But, looking at that animal made me feel so sad.

I think it looks like a dog too. I too was sad to see a dead animal. Even if it did kill, it wasn't "evil." It was just trying to stay alive.
