AWWWW Huney looks so sweet there in the grass with her dad! I hope she is feeling better today. The itching might not really be a problem for her because my Bella (standard poodle) is shaved very close on her tummy every 4-6 weeks just as a part of her normal routine grooming. I have never noticed her to be bothered by it at all. Hope Huney is perking up a little today. You are very lucky to have found such a special one as Huney. Update us when you can.

I just hate it when they have a rough time after Sir Jury. I remember Keegan's episode well. Hannah experienced an infection after hers and had to go on antibiotics.

Hoping for a good report on Huney. Looks like Dad is giving her the lovies she needs.

I have had very little time lately so please forgive me for not responding sooner. I must say that Huney is the cutest, sweetest, most cuddely chow I have ever seen....EVER! I absolutely love her and I can see how you fell in love with her and adopted her into your loving house. She's in good hands with you.

I am sorry that she's ouchy but hope she gets over this hump soon. I was lucky, when I got Kersey she was already spayed so I didn't have to go through the operation but I can imagine it's alot more tough for the girl doggies then it is for the boy doggies.

Hope You Get well sooooon. Huney! You to Anna! I'd have took a fall for all of my babies too. Never mind my getting hurt if my babies were ok. Thanks for the pictures. Looks like Honey is daddy's little girl! She's a sweetie.

Well, Huney's stitches are out, but...I swear, those two (Roxey and Huney)! You can't keep them from playing, it don't matter where they are. I was in the shower and thought ok, they are sleeping everything will be fine, NOT! I heard them playing and howling......anyway..she pulled a couple of stitches and Mark took her to the vet yesterday and she said that it wasn't infected but we need to clean it out with peroxide at least once a day and keep it clean. It looks kinda weird (as in, not all the way together).
Will this heal up on it's own? Anyone else ever had this happen? I haven't but they say not to worry it should be ok.

I'm sure it will heal, in time, and given that she IS a Chow Chow, her fur will grow back in and no one will ever see the scar!

Golly Anna, I can understand why you are concerned! I would say that aslong as she doesn't get TOO rambunctious she should be ok. Just keep a close eye on them. I know she wouldn't leave a bandage on it, Keegan wouldn't either. After Keegan got spayed and when she got sick, she stunk so bad, I had to give her a bath, I covered the incision with a tagaderm from work, but b/c her hair was growing back it didn't stick very well and she wouldn't leave it alone.
It has been over a week since she was spayed hasn't it? They took Keegan's stitches out in 10 days. I would keep a close eye on it like I said and maybe even some Neosporin, tho she probably won't leave it on long, but its the thought that counts!! Since it supposedly speeds up healing.
Good luck and keep us posted!

I hope Huney is doing better now - Yes her stitches and that open place should heal up just fine. Any creature (including people) that have surgery on their tummy area can have the incision open up. Then it becomes a matter of keeping the area clean and free of infection until it closes on its own... The scar will look a little bigger than usual, but nothing bad should come of this whole thing! By now your worries should be almost over!

Lots of hugs for Huney and Roxey and Angus too!

Huney is such a cutie!! Shiloh split her stitches, too. When we rescued her, they sent her home newly spayed. Two days later, we left her baby gated in the kitchen while we ran out to the store for a short time. When we got back, she had jumped the baby gate and split some stitches. It did look like it wasn't connected in a spot. The vet said it was ok and he was right. Her scar is a little bigger than it originally was, but the hair grew back over it and you can't tell. Don't worry, it will heal!! Good luck!

Yep, you were all right. The incision has finally healed up fine, and it doesn't bother her any more! I'm so happy for her!
