Aurie, That was a close call in your Maggie's case.I'm glad you found her
    safe.

I have lived in Indianapolis all my life and never heard of the pound being
completely full before.Never like this. There were a lot of loose dogs roaming
through my neighborhood last spring, unlike previous years.

Indy has been the center of a couple of controversies in the last few years, so it doesn't surprise me. Remember when we were driving down the highway when you went with me to Rosie's and we chased those dogs down 70?? OY! People drive me nuts.

My friend has gone to the shelter a lot and taken dogs out and taken them to Petsmart to help get them adopted, but, Indy Animal Control can be difficult to work with to get dogs pulled...same as Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne's shelter was dubbed " the shelter of shame" a couple of months because the difficulty of getting dogs out. This was on some of the yahoo rescue groups.

I send out requests for shelters all over the place and everyone is packed because of the idiot people who won't spay or neuter their animals. I wish I could spay and neuter them.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

My dogs have tags on there collars and are microchipped too! I keep all there information up to date! We use our cell numbers on their collars and my in-laws cell number for a back up number so if lost, we should be able to be contacted within the hour to come bail them out! Our pups have never been to doggie jail and I hope to God they never do!! We had a case here that a guys dog ran off one day, on a Saturday, he tried to go to the shelter, it was after hours, closed on sunday, monday, then there was a holiday, so closed again, then on the 5th day he goes right after work, gets there 1/2 hour before they close, they would not give him the dog until he had proof that it was his, he told them he would be back the next day after work, they said ok, he went back the next day after work to find out they put his dog to sleep that morning, the 5 day hold for a stray was up, they will not hold for a maybe!!!

Mugsy. sorry I didn't see your post before this. I really don't know if the
situation is a bad as it was back in July, but suspect it not much better.
They have'nt made any more public announcments either way.Yes, I do
remember that day on the Interstate. You were great. I know also
that Rosie makes frequent trips to the city pound to pull dogs all the time.
