In a German cat magazine I read today a story of two poor tiger girls (tigers, not cats) who had not left their transport cage for years because they were rasied in an irresponsible circus who left them behind (I suppose for reasons they couldn't feed them anymore).
Brigitte Bardot's trust was fighting for them as the administration wanted to kill them and finally paid transport to a German sanctuary where after 3 years they had grass under their paws for the first time.
