    UPDATE!

I just got home from my first doctor's appointment (it was bumped from last week until today). He did an ultrasound, and we saw the baby move. I cried. (S)he is about 1" in length, and the heart is beating at 186 times per minute. The doctor said everything looks very healthy, and already my chance of miscarriage is way down. According to that, my due date is February 11 -- nearly a whole week shorter than what I was expecting. (I will update my "ticker" soon)

Thank you everybody for all the congrats and well wishes. They totally make my day to read all of them.

Anna -- NO, it hasn't sunk in at all yet, but seeing the live picture today makes me believe it just a tad more!
Kayann -- we started planning a family a loooooong time ago, but up until now nothing happened. Last fall, we were told that it was never going to happen, and we actually were looking into adopting. And about names, we are going to wait to find out what the sex is (in approx. 4 more months) before we start choosing names.
Kimmy -- I'm not sure if the dogs "know" or not. Malone seems to be more sensitive to that sort of thing, and he has just recently started snuggling me with his nose across my belly. When I tell him we are having "a bay-beeee" he gets all excited and wags his tail.

Anna, I am so happy for you!
It looks like you will be having a Valentine's baby.
Somehow I picture you and Mark with a cute little red-haired baby girl.
Let me know it there's anything I can do for you and please let me know if you ever head over to Vermont so we can get together.
    RIP sweet Samantha

A cute little red-haired baby girl would be my absolute dream come true! And ON Valentine's would make it that much more special.

I will certainly let you know if we ever head up your way -- we never DID make it to Fire & Ice that day (long story) and I know we will soon. Now, we have to wait until I can again stomach the smell of food cooking. But we will get up there at some point, and maybe we can meet or something like that!
