    His tail looks too thin to be full lab.. I don't see pit or basset at all. Roxy is a Pit/Boxer mix, and Rupert doesn't really look like either of the above. I always thought he was a full-blood lab though.

    I think he might have some Chessie in him too. His head shape is more Chessie shaped- a wedge rather than square.



    His expressive eyes seem to be more Chessie than Lab or Pit.



    His ears are set a bit higher on his head- more like a Chessie than a Lab.



    He also has a white spot on his chest which is very common in Chessies and is an acceptable trait.



    His coloring is also typically Chessie- No black pigment, amber/yellow eyes. The yellow eyes are a disqual in the Lab standard. The only thing this guy seems to be missing is the wooly coat. So my guess is a Lab/Chessie mix. Often many hunters breed for this mix (Chesadors). They breed for the intense, rugged Chessie hunter, but want the very trainable, easy-going personality of a Lab.

    Wow now that I look at those pictures it does look like he has alot of Chessie in him.

    I agree with the chessie/lab theory.
