Macro mode???

Try using full zoom on your subject first, then take the picture in macro mode. If you're in a low light area use your flash. If using the flash see if you can adjust the flash to its lowest setting first. If it's still blurry it might be camera shake or your too close to your subject.

Proper macro photography usually requires a tripod and a high level of light since it is sensitive to both movement and light.

A tripod will make a HUGE difference! Lighting also makes a big difference. The better the lighting the faster the image will be shot = less movement

Yep, you've got shakey camera syndrome.

Try raising the ISO, increasing the amount of light, rest your arm/camera on something while taking the photo.

Also, try holding your breath as you take the picture. You don't shake as much then.

I don't know the A700, but does it have a spot mode? My S2 has it, and it helps a lot with macros.

I've found using zoom with macro WILL make it blurry.

If you use macro, make sure you have GOOD LIGHTING, it looks as though you took the picture indoors without flash, that will make it blurry. Try outdoors, or use flash!

Also sometimes too close is not good. If it still comes out blurry, back away A LITTLE bit, then try again.

I've found using zoom with macro WILL make it blurry.

It must only work with specific cameras. I've read on a few Canon forums to do this and that's what works with my G6.
