Has she been to the vet? She might have an eye infection or something that they can give you drops for. That would definitely beat combing it out regularly. Good luck!

I'd take her to the vet to have her eyes checked out in case of a possible infection. If not an infection they can probably give you something to help with the cleaning. Also, pet stores offer "wipes" especially for dogs with eye drainage and all you have to do is wipe the entire eye area and all is clean again.
Good luck,

She has a vet appointment scheduled already. It's not an eye infection because she has had it since she was a puppy and now she is eight years old. Does petco sell these wipes?
Don't waste your time on the wipes and other stuff. It doesn't work one bit.
Use Angels' Eyes.

My aunt who is a groomer introduced this product to me. She uses it on her Poodle/Maltese and sells it to her customers.
I got a bottle of it for my grandma's three Maltese and it works like a charm!

My parents Yorkie, Little Dog, has this problem. The vets did all sorts of tests on her eyes and nose. Her problem is that her tear ducts are too small (I believe) and that's what causes it. I am pretty sure that is what is wrong with LD anyways. They gave her two sets of eye drops that even though she is supposed to be off of them, she isn't because as soon as they stop giving them to her then her eyes get really bad. They clean her eyes and give her the drops daily. One day, they woke up to find that an eye was crusted shut and they couldn't wipe it off and the vet (not their usual) said it was because of NEGLECT! That girl, nor any other, has NEVER been neglected since she's been in my parents care so you can imagine how terrible that was for them to be accused of.
ANYWAYS. Sorry to ramble. But maybe Sassy has that going on with her, as well. I'm hoping that all goes well at the vets!
I'd like that. Do you put it in their food or something?Originally Posted by Kfamr
