    First of all,

The US played one man down for 40 minutes.

    Their defense was good.
    They played a gutsy game.

The adage in AMERICAN FOOTBALL is..

On any Sunday a truly bad team can beat a good team.

They tied a good team. It's not our fault we know which net is ours.

Oh well. Now we have to wait to 2010 to try again.

One of the really neat things about the World Cup is the children escorting each player to the pitch. Is this unique to the Germany World Cup, or has this been done before? I don't remember it happening when the WC was held in the USA in 1994.

Brazil!!!!!!! Ronaldo is back!!!! He is PHENOMENAL!!!! I remember watching him last World Cup and being absolutely mesmerized by his footwork. He was looking a bit sluggish during the first two games, but he is BACK.

    Go BRAZIL!!!

It will be a fun game to watch! And of course we won't rivalize, I hope both teams do well (but in the end I hope Argentina wins)

Children as mascots are generally used in every game of football as far as I am aware. I don't think I have ever seen so many before - usually one per game as opposed to one per player. But I may be wrong, I don't follow football closely. Maybe someone else knows differently.

Whoa!!!! Germany has reached the Quarter-Final!!!

You have no idea what's going here at the moment; the entire country is going crazy these days!

You see German flags everywhere; on the cars, and the houses.... Since Germany is a country with not much patriotism, this is really something special!

Even Reinhold (my mother's fiancé) has now a flag on his car:

In a couple of hours, we will know who will be our opponent on Friday, but I'm pretty sure it will be Argentina!

Wow! What an awesome match! I suffered in front of the TV, and in many times, I thought Mexico would win, but we finally made it! Both teams did it great...

    Go Argentina!!

I'm not so confident about the next match against Germany, though...

I'm sitting tight for England at the moment, 1-0 up at the moment *touch wood* but by England's performance so far everything's a bit tense....

Congratulations Kirsten and Natali, I wonder who will win in that match? Argentina seems the stronger team, but Germany have been a little more consistant, should be interesting
