The AC is set on 76 and 77 but that isn't the temp in the house most times. Our thermostat is in a "dead spot" in the hall where it's always warm and even though it may be set on 77 sometimes it will run and run before it thinks it has cooled off enough. Meantime the rest of the house might get as cold as upper 60s while the thermostat in the dead spot thinks it's just 76. We finally put a ceiling fan in the hallway and keep it running and that seems to help correct the problem. We've probably paid 100 times over what it would cost to have an electrician move the thermostat in wasted AC.

We have neither central air or air conditioning. A/C would just be silly! We have a propane furnace that we could use for heat, but propane heat is nasty. The furnace is set to kick in only if the pipes are in danger of freezing in the winter. We heat with a wood stove.
