If you watch the video from MSNBC it says Meatloaf suffers from severe stage fright, and can't remember any of the preformance. I think Kat was a little nervous about him.

Well, Kat did beautifuly on that song. I feel bad for her though. I honestly think that Idol choose Meatloaf for her to sing with.

Yeah, they did. Here are two questions from seperate interviews.

Did you ask producers to hook you up with a Meat Loaf duet?
They just came to me. It wasn't like it was my choice. They just said, Okay, you'll be singing with so-and-so.

MTV: Did you know who Meat Loaf was?
McPhee: I found out a few weeks before the finale. I knew the name but didn't know what he looked like or anything. It was an interesting experience. He's definitely the theatrical rocker dude. I've had a lot of theatrical experience in my life because I went to school for musical theater, but he was on a whole different level. He warned me he goes full-out every time, and when we were rehearsing he was all in my face.

"Meat Loaf Says He Can't Remember 'American Idol' Performance "
Remember Meat Loaf's performance Wednesday on "American Idol"? He doesn't.
Meat Loaf has absolutely gripping television stage fright, yet he still performed with Katharine McPhee on the finale.
He said the only thing he remembers is the television people telling him that he had less than two minutes before he went on, and then he was walking off the stage and thought he was going to pass out.
He has no memory of what happened in the middle. He admits he sat down and began to "cry like a baby" afterwards.
Meat Loaf said that he's surprised he didn't die of a heart attack. Meanwhile, McPhee had told him during rehearsals she wasn't nervous at all, and Meat Loaf said he wishes he could be her for five seconds. He said he had never sung that song live before, and as he puts it, it felt like he had "an alien busting out my chest."
