Amy didn't mention it but we found a stray dog on Monday night. It was a chocolate lab, very skinny and no collar. We thought it was a stray but we walked around the neighborhood to check it out. No one recognized the dog except one man said he said it running loose on Main St. (which is very busy with truck traffic). He had some bare patches along his back near his tail and on his legs. We were afraid he might have mange and with our five we couldn't take the chance so we took him to the night drop at the Humane Society. I called the next morning to talk to them and tell them where we found him.

When I got home from work, two little boys came to my door and asked if I had found their chocolate lab. I asked them why he didn't have a collar on and they said he kept chewing through them. Evidently they leave him tied out when they are at school and mom is at work. They live at the very end of the street and evidently have not had the dog very long since on one seemed to know about it. (although long enough for him to chew through 4 collars and run away)

They said their mom was going to check with the Humane Society so I am sure they have him back by now. I will try uploading the pics again. And them post them.

I am glad Amy was able to find the dog's owner. It is sad when you have to leave them in a kennel they don't want to be in!

It must be the PT parties attracting them. I found a german shepherd the other day. Friendly as can be. It had some sort of electronic collar but no tags so it went to the police station to wait for an owner. If my stepdad weren't around we'd have kept it until we found the owner, but the police station has a holding kennel for strays and they take good care of them until an owner shows up or until its been long enough to go to the shelter.

But still much better then letting them play in traffic, espically with all the trucks on Main Street...and it is only a short jaunt out to I-75!

It was only about a week ago I told Ralph I wouldn't mind having a boxer or boxer mix at some point. Don't think we are quite ready yet though!!!
