Visa -- the litter came down with parvo and the breeder spent $2000 trying to keep them alive. Visa literally owes her life to a Visa card. The other survivors were named Cash and Amex.
Oliver -- When he was a baby he was tiny and submissive. His brother easily overpowered him for food the first time I fed them. He looked at his brother as if to say "please sir, can I have some more?" So I called him Oliver Twist.
Tobias -- no reason really, I just like the name, it's different and I think it's a good name for a rat.
Caleb -- I just like the name. I've always liked people names for animals (especially rats though).
    I've been BOO'd!

Snuggles. I think that came from tickles and the snuggle laundry softener. Tickles was a dog we saw at a pet store a lhasa who would lick you and it tickled. Now that I think about it I feel sorry for tickles. Being a pet store puppy. Glad we didn't get him. We couldn't cause he was very expensive. You could set up payment in monthly installments. As much as he cost we would still be paying for him.

Niño- The shelter told us his name was “Nino” but when we got him home, we realized he understood commands in Spanish. So then we knew it was pronounced Niño. To this day we don’t know if that was really his name or if they thought the shelter people were asking what sex he was when really they were asking his name. It really fits him though.
Oslo- He is named after the capitol of Norway
Tigger- When I got her I was 5 years old and she happens to be grey and orange. She was up on her legs and tail against the glass trying to climb out of the tank when I saw her and I thought she looked like she was bouncing on her tail like Tigger.
Terrance- My sister’s gerbil. My sister found out that gerbils were originally from Mongolia, so in the car on the way home from the pet store the only thing I could think of was Mongolian Tarripans (wild horses) And my sister thought that that would be a good sounding name, so we then thought of the name Terrance. We call him “Turr” or “FatTurr” though.

Josie: From a book I was reading at the time...can't remember the book now...
Zeke: TV show Tour of Duty
Kiba: A tv show Wolf's Rain (kiba was a wolf. means fang)
Butter: I couldn't find a fitting name for him. I "named" him Shadow because he follows me everywhere, and he's black...but I call him Butter...which just seems to fit him even though I don't think it's a suitable name for a Black male cat?? lol

My babies: Josie, Zeke, Kiba, Shadow (AKA Butter)

For some reason I thought I'd already posted on this thread, but I guess not. Must have been a similar thread.

Anyway, I named Taz because I like the Tasmanian Devil from Warner Bros cartoons. That's fairly simple and boring isn't it?

When we got Zoee I went online to search for names. As I was going through the alphabet I got to Cali. We really liked that and Bruce tried it out on her. We almost stopped there and I said - should I just keep going to see what else there is? So I kept going and we also really like Sophie. So for about 15 minutes he tried out the names Cali, Sophie and Zoee on her. We decided Zoee was it. And Bruce decided on the spelling. Which turned out to be perfect since the breeder had used the double e's on the whole litter. Zoee's name was originally Bonee.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Jenny - I wanted to name her Nala, but my mom wanted to name her after my Grandmother who's name was Geneva. My dad and my mom spell it G-e-n-n-y but I spell it J-e-n-n-y, because it looks better.

Buster - All that would come out of my mouth was Buster or Buster Button, so it stuck and fits him so well.

Ginger - my grandmother who passed away in 2003 named her because of her color. My mom inherited her from her when she passed away.

Tiger - he already had his name, but I am assuming they called him Tiger because of his markings. I wanted to call him Tigger, but it doesn't fit although his nickname is Tigs.

Rocky - we got him in a town named Rocker. Pretty self-explainatory

and last but not least, Miagi - I wanted to name him Simba, but my mom said that all cats and dogs have that name. She said Mowgli and the next thing was out of her mouth was Miagi.
Krista- owned by Rudy, Dixie, Miagi & Angel

Rocky, Jenny, Ginger Buster & Tiger .. forever loved & always in my heart..

    Little Bit-
She ecsaped from the cage and ended up between my headboard and my bed. I had a hard time getting her out and she was hissing at me and trying to bite me, so I said a few choice words and decided to condense those words to say around my daughter. So when I try to touch her and she gets mean, she is also considered a little b----.

Soni wasn't really anything I had thought of before. After we decided that we were going to keep him (which was pretty much from the first point. ) I looked at him and it just *popped* into my head: Soni. Also, his disposition is sunny and that's how he makes us feel. After he established his spot, fused onto my husbands hip, Troy gave him the middle name Daze. He didn't want a conventional spelling but he wanted something to kind of match his first. Of course, he has our last name. so, he's Soni Daze C.

Isis was a planned name even though it fits her so very well. We are very much into mythology and I wanted the name for a strong goddess. Her middle name is Astrid. I just love that name. So she is Isis Astrid C.

I have no idea why I gave Bijou her name. Rota is another mythological name.

(RB) Tier was partially named after a former friend. Also, according to Babel Fish, it means beast in German. So, I thought that very ironically befitting of such a darling. Tier is also an abstract spelling of our last moment with him. His middle name is a tribute to my husband (middle name, as well). So, he was Tier Andrew C.

Little Dog got her name because we had a German Shepherd and a GS/Rottie and she was the Little Dog.

My Chi pup is going to be registered as "The Stars In His Eyes". His call name will be Orion.

    Maggie- (RIP)
Maggie was an English Bulldog, but we got her before I was born, so I'm not sure why she was named Maggie

    Eddy- (RIP)
Eddy was a Yellow Lab, he got hit by a car a couple years ago but my step-dad loves the wild river so much, he named Eddy after a river eddy.

    Pyton- (RIP)
Pyton was a cat that I had, I'm not sure what breed he was but he was the cutest little thing you ever saw! My mom told me that "pyzon" meant "friend" in native American, but I couldn't remember that, so i thought it was Pyton...

    Rascal-
Rascal is a Beagle mix, we took him from my neighbors a couple years ago when they couldn't keep him anymore.

    Ellie Mae-
Ellie is a Blue Heeler, we named her from Ellie Mae on the Beverly Hillbillies show!

Better add the new additions .

Cabaret - Well we thought it was the wine, but got a little confused . It still fits him perfectly though. He's quite a feisty betta.

Melody - Another Little Mermaid name. (Ariel's daughter from TLM2)

    Dogs:
Sammy: My mom always wanted a dog or cat named Sammy

Jesse: well, we had a cat named Soxs, and we had Sammy, so there is 2 S's, then there was my RB Jewel, and Echo. Our whole family came up with a list of names, and my mom was thinking this whole thng through, and the lust was - Bubbles, Dog, Sally, and Jesse. We chose Jesse to say in the least...

Jemi': Well, the reason I got her is because she reminded me so much of my RB Jewel, and I felt it was Jewels way of showing me that she forgives me, and still loves me, and that her death really was not my fault...so, Jemi' has Jem which looks like gem, and jewel is a gem, and Jem in French is I love...then we needed an ee sound at the end because of Sammy and Jesse

    cats:
Peek-a-Boo: she was always hiding, and it reminded me of the game ppek-a-boo!
Autumn: her colors are the colors of fall..

    Other:
Splinter: she came with the name, and it fits her!

Selina: she came with the name, and she responds to her name

Xambi: I was being sarcastic, and asking my table in small animal management what I should name my betta, and a guy said Zambi, only spelt with an x.

RB Lomasi: she was pretty, and lomasi is a Native American word meaning pretty flower

Chipper (not, a pet): He was chirping so LOUD, and so much, and my neighbor and I didn't like chirper, so we decided on Chipper, and it fits him

    This is a fun thread!

    Jenny Sasha

I liked the name Jennifer ( i guess that was a mistake cuz her name always seems to be Jenny, which is fine, but now my mom calls her Jenny-Fur lol )

Sasha is what they named her at the pound, i didn't like the name very much, so i changed her name and made sasha her middle name ( but we dont use that name very much )
