Thanks so much everyone for keeping her in your thoughts!

On the way there she vomited in the car. We decided to have blood drawn to check for pancreatitis and any other problem. The vet was in surgery and we had to wait to see her and get the results. While we were waiting Nova got that look on her face like she had to vomit again, and when she did, out came a sock! She had a blockage!

Bloodwork is normal and other than an upset tummy she's doing fine now. She can eat and drink again in the morning. She's no longer going to be free when we leave the house. Not sure how long it will be before we'll be able to trust her out again. She'd eat a brick if we buttered it for goodness sakes!

We believe the marrow bone actually triggered an upset stomach because it could not pass and is so rich (she ate her meal just fine and kept it down, but vomited it up later tonight after she got the bone). If we hadn't given her that there's a good chance she would have continued trying to digest the sock tonight and it may have required surgery.

Anyway, she's doing good. She's just a Lab who eats everything.

Whew!! I'm so relieved for you. What a terrible scare!

Glad to hear she's doing better.

What was it that she ate that caused the blockage?

Anyway what a RELIEF!! Earlier this week we had to induce vomiting for Jamie because my roommate left fudge out (2 lbs!) and she jumped on the counter and got into it... rock hard abdomen... pure liquid diarrhea... we induced vomiting with hydrogen peroxide and she threw up so much, our entire back porch was covered in chocolate vomit. After that though she felt totally fine!

Anyway just wanted to share my experience with you and that I know how you're feeling! Its such a relief to find out that everything is OK!!

Me too! Only I didn't go back to re-read. I feel a little silly now.

    Still glad she's ok, though!

omg I am so relived!!! Thank God she is ok!

At work we had a choc. lab puppy, that ate a sock and we couldn't figure it out (why he was throwing up so much). We put him outside and for a hour I had to sit with him while we tried to find a vet for him. He finally threw it up and he tried to eat it again!!! I am not sure why. But long story short. I have never heard of a dog eating a sock, its so big.
Thanks so much Ashley for the siggy!

    Aww, Nova.
    Don't eat socks!
Lily once ate half a bag of M&Ms, and then she puked it up all over me an hour or so later .

I'm so glad Nova is ok!

I remember one day Claire was feeling bad and she threw up a couple times, then shortly after she threw up a little toy, it was a toy she had destuffed, that she looved to death, and it was small but it still could've been much worse if she hadn't gotten it up. She didn't throw up near as many times as Nova but I was to the point of taking her to the vet when she got the toy up. Scared me to death! Now I never let her keep a toy, no matter how much she loves it. She'd had that thing for two or three years and I thought it was so strange that she just up and ate it.
