    Gorgeous!!

I've been wondering - how come you can breed different Belgians together? I thought they were seperate breeds entirely.

    Congrats!

Annnd, I'm not totally sure, but I thought breeding a Terv to a Groendael is like breeding a rough collie to a smooth collie? Just, puppies of different coat types/coloring are produced.

Aww he is beautiful! I want a pup from Visa's son as well, count me in on that I'd enjoy herding with him/her very much!

Oh, that makes sense! Thanks for explaining it!

I didn't know that Ashley was getting a puppy! It'll be neat to watch two of them grow up!

That would be cool! When the day comes, let me know, I'd love for you to have one.

Yup, Ashley is getting one, and Visa's breeder is keeping one as well, so I'll have tons of pictures of that one too. Ashley and I usually only see eachother once a year, so it will be so cool to see the differences between our dogs from a distance and then be able to meet up and see close-up how different they are. I know this puppy is going to the best home ever, Ashley is into all kinds of dog sports -- I know she wants to do obedience, agility, and conformation, and I think she is interested in herding and schutzhund too. I hope we will get to compete together at some of the same shows and trials. If both dogs prevail over the rest, I will be so proud to have produced such wonderful dogs (even if her dog beats mine ).

The Belgians are only different breeds in AKC -- in every other registry, they are varieties. So it all just depends on genetics as to what you will get. In this litter, we will get only groenendaels, but some of the puppies will carry tervuren. You can tell if they carry tervuren because they will have lighter areas on their bodies. I would love one of these, but I'm not going to pick a puppy based on what it will produce, but rather it's temperment. These pups should have nice temperments though -- this particular male is VERY nice. He has a great head too. Visa's body is absolutely perfect but her head could be better -- so hopefully this pairing will produce pups with nice heads. Being a terv, he's low-drive, so this is also good, because Visa has more drive in one toe than most dogs have in their whole body. Breeding two high drive dogs is dangerous lol. As it is we are going to have a couple of high drive pups in this litter that will be hard to place.

I'm considering breeding her to a malinois eventually too, but I'll probably end her breeding career with another groenendael and breed her son to a malinois intead. This will produce black malinois. Ashley (binka_nugget) wants one lol (she's already getting a pup from THIS litter! ).

I'm so happy Ashley is getting one of these puppies, I know she will be an awesome home. I'm so excited that we will have brother and sister.
