If it makes you feel better, I'm afraid of ants. Its not to a point where I won't go outside, but I don't like to go out without shoes and if I am sitting on a picnic table or bench and see one I have to stand up or I will have all my attention on the ant making sure it doesn't come by me. We had class outside one day and we sat on the balcony of our building and I didn't hear a word the teacher said because I was watching the ground to make sure there were no ants. I can understand how you would watch the snake in the classroom to make sure it won't come by you. There's no way I'm going to hold one either to get over it.
