That is a perfect cake for a 1st birthday. You don't have to worry about plates and utensils, just a trash bag for the cupcake liners.

Are you planning to give Tyler one of his own to play with/eat? Mimi had her own cupcake at her 1st birthday while the adults had sheet cake. I think the gooey icing thoroughly grossed her out because once she got it one her hands, she wouldn't use her hands for anything until we cleaned them up.

I love it! It's so cute.
Was it hard to get the frosting on so smoothly over all the cupcakes?

thank you thank you thank you everyone You all make me feel so good
I can't take credit for the idea though! I found it in a cake decorating book that I picked up at the register of the grocery store. It was surprisingly easy to make! I just had to hold the edges of the cupcakes a little while I frosted the shell, but the frosting went on quite easily once I whipped it up a little bit.
One box of mix makes 24 cupcakes, so everyone is going to get the cupcakes Hopefully Tyler will enjoy it! He enjoyed the gooey texture of finger paint, so hopefully he'll enjoy the gooey texture of frosting

I sent hubby to work today with two turtles I don't want them in the house because I would eat them all up *giggle* Hubby said he's going to try to slip them into the conference room when no one is looking and deny that he has anything to do with them

It's adorable. I called all of my co-workers over to look at it and they agreed. Very cute and clever.
