    I got bit

I was going for a walk with Georgia and my friend's little Jack Russel/Dachshund. He's pretty large for his mix, though. Anyway, I was bending down to pet him, and he turned around, and bit into my hand He sliced it pretty good, it drew blood and I have four bite barks, two on each side. I was astonished I have never ever got bitten by a dog before, and I have never thought I would be bit for no reason! I am not mad at little Bib, but I don't trust him anymore. After he bit me he managed to pull the leash out of Laurie's hand when she was apologizing and looking at my hand. I told her it was no big deal and we ran after Bib. He ran into the road towards the intersection and we got him just in time before he ran into the intersection. I am so happy he is all right, but really don't trust him anymore. I can't blame him though.... I saw Laurie's uncle throwing rocks at him... No wonder he bites people...

My biological mother has two Doxies who bite bite bite. They are very mean and, needless to say, I don't trust them either. I, also, can't blame them. They live a terrible life where the biting is ENCOURAGED. It's all they know, behaviourally, so I can't get angry with them. I feel so bad for them. Yoda is one year and Biggles is five or six.

I'm glad you're OK and are being sensible and sympathetic with Bib. Poor little guy.

I got bit by my boss's dog about 3 months ago. Never had been bitten before so it was a shock and it hurt like heck - had to go to the emergency room. Glad your hand is okay (albiet bite marks).

Sounds like Bib's Uncle is an a$$.

One of my German Shepherds attacked me,I had gotten him from a breeder that was retiring out of breeding i have kennels that each dog go in individually, anyways i went to go put a colar on him to see how he walked,he had problems with his hein end.And i did not want to see him put down that is what the previous owner was going to do i thought i could maybe get him treatment anyways back to my story i went in pet and was talking to him and my other dog he was an old GSD walked by and the new one lunged to get at him,I stood up to block him he tore my shoulder and side open,I had to get stiches and after that surgery.
I kept him and tried to work with him but he was getting worse he bit me 2 times after that 1 my elbow then he grabbed hold of my wrist.I tried i really did i had trainers come in everything and nothing he tried to attack the trainer. He was a 8 year old with hip problems,Vicious i had done everything i could so my next step was have him put to sleep,The morning of his appointment i went out to spend some time with him i found him dead,I had taken him to vets and i was told he was great health wise so im thinking he had a stroke or something. He was such a beautiful looking dog i went through alot with him the time i had him...Im glad you are ok you should still go to the docs and have it looked at you can get bad infections from dog bites!!!TC hun

So sorry that you got bit!!! I hope you are feeling alright. I was bit by a dog when I was 3, but thankfully that was the last time.

Sorry to hear. I'm glad you aren't mad at him. You'll build your trust up in time.

Owch! I hope your hand is feeling ok, I had a little dachshund try and bite me when I work at a vet hospital but he didn't really get me at all. He just wanted to get back to his owners and I was holding him for an exam. He was just scared.

I am doing quite fine, it still hurts when touched, but otherwise, it is fine. I think he was just scared. He really is a nice dog but you can't expect a dog that is treated like he is treated to be the greatest and most trust worthy. It's not his fault.

Maybe you should suggest having the dog muzzled if hes outside and snaps? I mean just incase he bites the wrong person, I've recently seen a dog VERY close to being destroyed becuase she bit the wrong person and its heartbreaking.

I know you can relate to the dog being ill treated but say if he bit someone outside who doesn't see from your point of view? It could cause alot of trouble ..

I hope your hand gets better, Its really not nice being bitten, I find it knocks your confidence with dogs for a short while .. Maybe you should get it looked at if its not better by the end of the week, You might need medicines if its infected .

I don't think it is infected, it is doing well and I have been putting antibiotics on it and hydrogen poroxide. He does have a muzzle but I don't think they use it much

I'm really glad that you are fine and that you caught Bib before any cars reached him. On the other hand...why was Bib's uncle throwing rocks at him?? I would bite too if people did that to me.
