She just turned 5 months old on the 9th of April. Well actually I could get her rabies right before I come. Is that possible?

Thank you for posting that Phred. I was actually getting a little nervous myself, because I haven't sent in my dog's info either, and I was worried about it getting to be too late. Now, I really do need to get my act together and start making definite plans.

So Pat, we can fax all of the information in?

You can FAX the paperwork and Vaccination Records ...
    but I doubt they'll accept a FAXed $10 Bill!

And they won't be sending your Permit till they GET that $10.00!

Just mail the stuff - but do it SOON!

Just include a note with the paperwork saying that you'll be visiting the Dog Park
over Memorial Day weekend - and to please send the Permit "ASAP".

    Is that possible?

Most Vets suggest puppies have their "DHLP-P" or "Five-in-One" disease
vaccinations in 3 shots given at 6, 10, and 14-16 weeks of age.

The first Rabies Vaccination is usually given with the third DHLP-P shot at 16 weeks. (4 months)

Most County Health Departments (the outfits that demand Rabies Vaccinations
be given to ALL dogs visiting or living in Ohio) require the first Rabies shot be
given at 16 weeks of age.

There won't be any "deals" made by the Parks Office - you'll have to SHOW them
a copy of a Vet-signed Rabies Receipt, describing the dog, BEFORE they will
    issue a permit.

The rules help protect Trinity - *IF* she should *nip* someone - the laws
say she has to be put down and tested for Rabies .
WITH a valid Rabies Veccination, the dog only has to be quarrantined -
    usually in your home.

Staci is correct with the 16 week MINIMUM age to enter the Dog Park -
that age comes from the minimum age for a Rabies Shot.
AND - most Vets discourage young'uns from going into public places where
there may be UN-vaccinated dogs - puppies aren't fully protected from
the "Big Five" Diseases (DHLP-P) until they get ALL the puppy and booster shots.

I wouldn't bring Trinity to either the Dog Park or the Picnic area unless she's
had ALL the puppy shots and the first Rabies shot.
But you DO have time to get her shots and the Permit.

I forgot to answer this part of your post ...

No one needs to "send a copy" of their dog's LICENSE to Hancock Parks -
just be sure the pooch is WEARING their License and Rabies Tags.

A current "County License Tag", worn along with a current Rabies Tag, will keep
your dog SAFE and out of trouble anywhere in Ohio and when visiting in most other States.

Most Dog Wardens and city or county dog Pounds will research the origin of a
dog's TAGS and place a call to that jurisdiction to determine who a lost dog belongs to.

she has had all her puppy shots, just not rabies. I don't feel comfortable giving rabies till 6 months. But I made her an appt. for the 28th of April.

Yes, I would really love to meet all the gorgeous Pet Talk doggies that I have been drooling over. And all the people too, of course. I just need to work out the travel plans.

    Yep!

    I'm SO excited!!

    ----

I have e-mailed several different companies asking if they'd like to send anything as an advertisement/donation or what not for me to include in the baggies for you all as well as to hand out locally.

I just recieved a large package from SitStay.com - clickers & dog training treats for everyone! The ASPCA is also sending some things - and I still have some bracelets from their 140th anniversary.

Gina, All I know is how to spell my name and say "My Pleasure."

There is a hearing impaired couple who use ASL and it is our company policy to say "My Pleasure" after a customer thanks us - the husband can hear quite a bit and read lips well, so he tells us thank you and everything - We learned how to say "My Pleasure" in finger spellings just for them.

awesome they had that policy! I wish everyone everywhere could have that, would be nice to communicate. so, you don't know the other 14 letters?

one thing though kay (and karen!), hearing impaired - maybe a very few wouldn't mind that phrase, (mostly to people who could hear at least a little) but please be aware most of us (who don't hear at all) would feel offended. we prefer deaf. (or hard of hearing for whose are sonically challenged too). I understand you didn't undermine us, I thought I'd educate you all a bit. just that word, makes me feel like I'm really disabled.
    - (to understand better, please take a look here) -

anyway, I've not check this thread and missed zillion pages. sorry if I miss anything, (skimmed in a hurry to lab work tonight) - are we gonna camp this year or? enough participators? I still need to fill out and sent out crayola's application! agh.. sue, I hope you still know I'm coming.

freckles, I can promise you I won't forget! camera's always in my car.

this is so exciting! so many are coming - I can't wait.. I would have bring some food (pasta salad/banana bread) from menu you listed but I'll be in a heaty car for a couple of hours.. so I guess I'll be bringing what lv4dogs' gonna bring!
rest and sleep softly sweet locke..

    Cats at the park????

I am transporting the kitten I rescued to his new home in Ohio after the PT meeting. He will be 8 weeks old then and is so far very well mannered. He will have his first set of shots by then and I will have Kaige's crate for him to be confined in. If it is not too hot out AND I have my van I can keep him in the van during the cay. But if it is hot out he'd have to be out to prevent heat poinsoning. Because of all the strange dogs I will obviously not be bringing him out of his crate.

Will this be a problem at all?
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

Your Kitty won't be the First PT Kitty to attend a DAWG Park Gathurin!

We've had at least two kitties - Donna's MooShoo has been there,
and another small kitten spent quite a bit of time down on the grass in a pen -
and never got too riled up with some of the Dawgs giving a *sniff* or two.

There's plenty of picnic tables under the Pavilion -
with room to place the Kitty's Kat-O-Prison in a shady or breezy spot as required.

And the KAT won't need a Park Permit!

Thats great! And George (the kitty) LOVES dogs, in fact he prefers dogs to humans & other cats. lol I'm sure he won't mind some sniffins as long as the doggy is friendly, we don't need a hurt little George.
