Even though, I myself own a small dog I have to agree. Celeberties and Stars have turned toy dogs into spoiled brats and pampered princesses. and frankly I don't like it. It annoys me greatly when I see Paris Hilton on TV with her pom dressed up in clothes and such. No, I am NOT agianst dogs wearing clothing. BUT NOT ALL THE TIME! I hear she put the poor dog in PJs for bed. Small dogs have gotten the reputation for being "spoiled" or "pampered. For example, Malteses were bred for hunting and were twice the size of modern day malties. Now, they are carried around in purses by a bunch of clear-headed teens who think they are accessories. Zara posted not to long ago of seeing JRT's in a magazine as the lastest accessorie!

I think just because small dogs are getting the rep for being accessories and being owned by stars doesn't mean they should get the right to be treated differently. Many toy breeds weren't bred for this kind of life that they live now. Their ancestors were proud proud hunters.

That is so true! Small dogs are often more privaleged than big dogs. At this household, the first night Jemi' came home, she bit Jesse, and Jemi' was punished (we tap her nose and tell her no..) We are working on her jumping on other people. She is treated just like Jesse is, and there are no exceptions to any behaviors (biting, growling, etc.)

It really isn't fair to any of the dogs. The big dogs don't understand what is going on when they see a little dog jumping on someone, but they can't. Also, the little dogs might want to actually walk instead of sitting in a purse all day!

Thanks guys! I'm glad I'm not the only one who is bothered by this!

BC_Mom - Now that is just crazy! I can't imagine someone placing a dish on the table for there dogs. It's true, my dogs may not even place there nose on the table! Much less eat off it.

animal_rescue - When I enter a play yard at work I always tell that dogs I have two rules. No Jumping and No Biteing. No matter if they are big or small I hate when dogs jump on me!

This also bothers me alot. Many small dogs turn out that way. It's the fact that they are small and people think of them as human children or babies. Molli is punished just like any other dog would be... people really ruin their dogs by babying them like that. A dog is a dog no matter if they are 2 pounds or 200.
