Both Molli and Sam do it. Sam does it so hard he rips the bed up, so he can't have soft beds anymore.

Bailey does that to the concrete outside, the linoleum, the couch, the carpet, the grass LOL!![]()

It's instinctic behavior, creating himself a "nest" like wild dogs do! See, he's really a wolf-cousin, you know!![]()
Yeah, both my dogs do this too!!! BOB,the little Terrier-like guy does it more. It's instinctic behavior, creating himself a "nest" like wild dogs do! See, he's really a wolf-cousin, you know!
That's not so far from the truth either. Ginger does that with just about "every special" treat she gets. She's been that way forever!!! When Ginger gets a treat that is extra special, something she doesn't get very often - like a SoupBone, she doe NOT know what to do. She holds it in her mouth and starts "CRYING". I mean really crying. It's hilarious. She will go from spot to spot - jump on the couch and pull out a pillow, dig (not really obviously) and drop the bone. Then she will push it with her nose into a corner. Push the pillow back over the spot... and start crying. Then she'll "dig" it out, grab in and jump down and run to a corner. She'll pseudo dig the corner of the carpet, drop the bone and start crying. Same repeat to her bed... this goes on for as long as a half an hour. Meanwhile Bob is just nawing away at his bone wondering what the heck is wrong with this creature!!!Is she trying tofind her bone? lol![]()
Lol, Sassy almost ripped her new bed today digging agian.
Bailey does it on concrete and he doesn't get hurt?

Haha, my dog does this to, and i've been wondering why he does it, but i assume he does it to make whatever it is more comfy because when he does that he lies down in that same spot.

My dogs do that too. Bitsy is the one who does it most. She'll often dig in one spot and then give up and go lay somewhere else. We can't figure that one out.

Snuggles used to do this and we took her bed away. She would dig and dig and dig but it probably is just because she is trying to make a nest!!!!![]()
All four of my Chihuahua's do that. Especially if the bedding has just been washed. I could never figure out why. I told my husband they're trying to dig to Mexico to go back to their roots lol. If anyone finds out the real reason I hope they let us all know.
