I took Sunny to the vet today for his annual exam and asked the vet about his feline acne. He prescribed an ointment called Bactoderm. It's actually a dermatologic ointment for dogs but it can also be used on cats. He said that his cat had feline acne much worse than my Sunny's and that the Bactoderm cleared him up. I have to apply to the affected areas 2 times a day for 5 days. I'll let you know how it works.
keep me posted on the progess of the antibotic cream for the feline acne.
Allen had it so bad last winter that he basically had one big open wound on his chin and lost all the fur on his chin. I washed it daily with rubbing alcohol but things made a huge turn-around once I learned its safe to use Stridex pads (those acne cleansing pads made for humans). He cleared up right away once I started using them.
Here my Allen is as it just started to develop - see the black specs?

Here he is last spring as it was finally clearing up -- that looked good compared to what it looked like previously.
At the time, I was certain it would never clear up and that his chin would be sore and pussy forever. It did go away, after persistent cleaning. He hated me for a long time and ran from me when he saw me approaching, but I had to get his chin clean! Now I do periodical chin checks on Allen and only once in a while will I find anything. I swear he knows I check his chin just to make sure it doesn't return bcause he's sooooo sweet and tolerant while I check.
