I did upload directly from my computer but the image was too large. And I had the [IMG] thing at both ends for Photobucket...but it is the wrong kind of jgp. WTH???
Will try saving a Photobucket one to my HD and see what happens. Thanks!

For an avatar you ONLY need to copy the URL, not the code to paste it on a forum or webpage. JUST the URL, without [img] or any of that jazz. If you did that is probably why it told you it was invalid, because as a URL, that would be invalid (but as forum code it IS valid).
I used the URL - but I was told the file was not a valid jpg, gif, or the other one.
It says this: The uploaded file is not a valid GIF, JPG, or PNG file. Please ensure that it is and try again.

Photobucket does not give pixel size, just KB. Should try Imagestation or something, I guess
What is the URL to the image you are trying to use?
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1...Olympus009.jpg
But the max KB saved on Photobucket is 64...I can reduce pics to 32...yet my pics do fine right in a message box!
Umm... that image is just a tiny dot!
32KB is still too big to be an avatar here on the boards
Maybe I should post the pic (DOT???OMG!) in my signature instead? How does everyone else shrink theirs???
