I'm so sorry! I never had a Canon, but I heard that the E18 error is really common in them... Hope you can fix it soon!

I have a Canon S2 IS, and it is very nice, but it needs a Secure Digital card. I think Kay has the same camera.
I've had this problem many time before. What I do is gently fiddle around with the lens, then you'll hear a click and your camera will work again.
This is the site I used to show me how to fix it. E18

Thanks for the great signature Kay!
I borrowed my friends camera once. I think it was a film camera, but it looked similar to my canon rebel. (exchangable lenses, etc) Anyway, I put it in its case, but it wasn't closed. So of course, the camera fell out. It wouldn't work. The len s wouldn't turn to focus or whatever. I was too busy freaking out, but my dad did some fiddling around and got it to work. It's not really the same thing, I guess...but I hope you can get it working.
(also, if my cellphone broke everytime I dropped it, I would be in a lot of trouble. I'm glad I'm not the same with my cameras....I'm afraid of myself sometimes.)
