But what I find is weird. I know they breath through their gills and I know this must sound like super rediculous but he was like digging his face into the gravle this morning but he seemed to be getting better so I thought nothing of it but it looked like he was sufficating himself![]()
Thats the same thing my beta would do, he actually got right underneith all the rocks.

Bettas breath through a labyrinth organ, not their gills. Its similar to lungs. They can suffocate if they can't go to the surface even within a few minutes.
