This is common. How old are the cats? The older they are the less they'll appreciate the puppy's active curiousity. Never leave the cats alone with the puppy, and only let them meet face to face while you are around to supervise.

It'll take the cat a while to get used to something new in their territory. You shold expect hissing and swatting for a few days (or few months, depending on the cat's temperment and the puppy's refusal to learn what a swat on the head means )

Is the puppy crated at night and when you're not home? Or at the very least, is he isolated in a puppy-proof area? If not, I recommend looking into doing so.

    Question thanks

Thanks for understanding, i just wish my mom would understand this. The cats are about a year old and the puppy is 9 weeks. i hope the little cat warms up to him, he is so sweet and cute. Yes, he is in a kennel when we are gone and when we sleep, we are kennel training him as of now. The larger cat doesn't seem to mind he bats the puppy on the noce but our little one is scared hisses runs and hides. My mom feels the cat was hear irst so the puppy propbably isn't a good idea. I just thank you all very much!

Give it time, I assume its only been a few days? They are still getting used to each other. This will take time!

My kitty has been around my pup for months and every now and then he will let them know if they have crossed a line, or if he is just moody he will hiss at them for just being in the same room. They will get along though eventually, even if not then they will learn to tolerate each other and to stay away and leave each other alone

I have 3 dogs and 4 cats. It was NEVER easy when we first put a cat with our dogs or another cat with our cats. It took a good 3 weeks for them to adjust to each other and get along.

But they are all the best of buddies now and don't mind each other at all! It takes some time and patience! But, they will get over it!

We actually kept our new addition seperated from the rest of the animals for a few days and let them see each other a bit at a time. It really helped.
