Oh, dear God, no....missing

Growing up we had a shepard/husky mix. I was about 12 when we got him from the pound. That dog would run like crazy if he got out, we would chase him down. One time he really got away and we found him at the pound, after that he never ran away again.

That's so interesting about huskies having no recall, I had no idea! Of course, that only makes it more difficult, as you say. Still checking the thread every day, hoping for good news.

Yes, this is very typical of huskies and husky-crosses. They have no recall. They've been bred for thousands of years to run as far and as fast as they can in front of the humans. They have no homing instinct.

It is frustrating, aggravating and profoundly depressing!

I remember having a husky in the house...and, prior to that, I did as much research as I could, and, discovered quickly that if you take the husky off leash, he's outta there. We never unleashed Nikolai for that reason, we knew he'd run forever and ever, then stop, and, not know how to get home. I'm so sorry that you're still having to deal with this, and, it sounds like Delta is fine out there, but, it's very sad that he's not home, yet. I'm still thinking of you from down here in South Carolina. And, praying for Delta to come home.

He may yet return, wouldn't he still consider your dogs as his home pack? I'm sure he's hunting down plenty to eat. From my experience, huskies have that prey drive for a reason! If Star ever got out, I really wouldn't worry about her going hungry, either. We'll keep praying for him, that he stays safe and sound, and decides to come home for a little loving. i once had a husky that had a houdini complex, she would get out throught the smallest hole, she even got out through a 10 cms space, just dont ask me how, tha thing is she ALWAYS returned, it may be a husky exception since i know they LOVE to RUN and they will if let, but i hope Delta has this exception and come back soon, hes had a fun time on his own but its time to go back.............come on buddy!!!
