Yeah there are all kinds of fun characters you can make by holding down the ALT key and typing in a range of numbers.

To make the heart in places where HTML is allowed, you can use ♥ (places such as myspace livejournal etc) but in places where HTML is not allowed SOMETIMES you can either copy and paste an existing heart OR hold down the ALT key and press the number 3 on the keypad to the right
