Pjevs was taken to the vet hospital sunday and put to sleep. I’m still in tears and can't talk on the phone. The other couple that fed him and I, took the decision that is it was best for him.

After we noticed he had problems with his front paws, I took him up in my bathroom. He ate his favourite food and I gave him the rest of the Temptations. He used the litter box - and he even jumped up on my chest of drawers himself, where I had put some soft blankets. I sat and cuddled with him and when he was relaxed enough, I tried to get a closer look at his paws. I filled the sink half full of warm water and held him carefully, dipping his paws in the water to get the dirt off. I did this a few times, letting him have a break in between. At least three nails had grown into his skin. I had given him one of Fister’s leftover painkillers.

Since it was weekend, all the vets were closed, so I called the vet hospital which unfortunately is quite far away, when you don’t have a car. They would also charge double at weekends, DKR 1300,- to put him to sleep.

Sunday, I rang Falck animal ambulance. They asked whether someone owned Pjevs, or if he was earmarked. I told them he wasn't and they said they'd send a car for him. They would take him to the very same hospital I had called and it would not cost anything because he was considered a wild cat. It is the same hospital where Fister got his operation, and I know they are very skilled vets and nice people, so I said yes, thank you. They came two hours later.

I could have taken him to my own vet monday, but I didn't want him to suffer for another day and also, I could not face seeing him go.

Pjevs was left in our backyard by someone who moved out before we moved in in 94. He slept in an old pram then. A few of us started him feeding him every day and have done since. We also built a house for him. He used to hang around with Fister’s mom and and a few other kitties there. The tree he used for climbing up on the roof of the dustbin shed has been cut down.

In the last few years, he was the only one left and I noticed he got smaller, that happens when a cat grow old. Also, this summer when he was fed during the day, the birds would try to steal his food, and he didn’t seem able to chase them away.

Pjevs was the sweetest boy anyone can imagine!

Rest in Peace my dear sweet Pjevs, you will always be in my heart and never be forgotten!

I will post a few pictures of him in the next post.

I have to check it all out around my house

    Yawn - I had a good sleep

Time to lay in the sun for a bit

I must go and see if Randi is in the kitchen

Uhm, it was good with a bite to eat

I think I'll just sit here for a bit and watch what's happening in my yard

Randi, I'm very sorry to learn these news about Pjevs.

I know you cared for him a lot; and I remember you took him in last New Years, when he was so scared of the fire works. Now you helped him to the Bridge where he is painfree and whole again.

I'm so sorry that he's gone!

    R.I.P. Pjevs!

    Kirsten
