Autumn goes about 4 times a day.

WOW, 4-6 seems like a LOT! What are you guys feeding your dogs? And what age are they?
Gonzo goes once a day, if it's twice he has gotten a lot of extra treats. Totally firm and healthy. I would think with 6 BM's, there is a lot of unusable food products (like grains/corn) passing through the dog.
Frequent (2-4 times a day), large, formed stools are an indication of a diet that is adequate in fiber and one that is moving through a system at the proper rate, scrubbing the walls of the intestines to prevent toxins from laying there and putrefying in the gut.

Don't the smaller dogs and more active dogs also have a higher metabolic rate than the larger ones or the less active breeds? It's my active dog that goes more often and the one that sleeps all day goes less often. They both eat all right and I'm not feeding discount dog food full of fillers, etc.
I know someone with a very small mixed-breed dog (weighed 3 pounds), and she commented to me that hers would drink a lot and have to go more often (both #1 and #2) than larger dogs she had owned in the past. If this holds true, I would expect the Jack Russell to go as often as he does, since the breed is both small and active.
I have three Jack Russells, and they all go on average two to three times a day. I would think that 6 poos a day is a bit extreme...

Depends -- usually about 2-3 times a day.
A good question was asked: what do you feed your dog? The better the food, the less poo there is. Why? Because the cheaper "supermarket foods" are loaded with fillers and low quality meats like chicken by-products (such a beaks, eyes, claws, etc) they eat more because they don't get the necessary nutrition needed to keep them full. Think of when you go to McDonalds. A large fry and double cheesburger fills you, but in two hours you're hungry again. Now think if you arte a nice chicken breast, corn, broccoli, carrots.... you'll be full and not hungry for several hours. Also think what happens in your own bathroom a few hours after McDonals vs a healthy meal.
Better food = better nutrition = less eaten per day = less poops per day.
